Axiom Forge
Rigging Pipeline Tool
The idea
Where did it came from?
Axiom Forge was born from the need to create personal projects, work on freelance jobs, and as a learning experience. I decided to create Axiom as a practical and well-structured solution for handling rigging as a complete process, from model preparation, through skinning, blendshapes, final adjustments, and character publishing. From the very beginning, the idea was for Axiom to be an auto-rigging tool, but not limited to that. It was also designed to run outside of a DCC, allowing components to be executed independently and to assist with everyday tasks beyond rigging itself, making it useful in a wide range of applications.

Built for iteration, rollback, and production safety
One important aspect of the rigging process is data serialization, storing and versioning data so that, if something goes wrong, it’s always possible to roll back to a previous state. I decided to address this in Axiom from the very beginning, already thinking about a project structure, data organization, and a way to save both skinClusters in a traditional workflow and ngSkin maps, which is a tool widely used by riggers in their day-to-day work.
Data flow
Predictable. Traceable. Rebuildable.
Every system begins with an entry point, and Axiom is no exception. The Anvil defines the steps and the overall construction flow, enforcing a logical order in which processes are defined to ensure data is properly structured. This approach simplifies data access at different stages of the pipeline and keeps data creation, organization, cleanup, and loading consistent and predictable.
