This project came with several challenges. Some of them involved working with birds that followed a very specific visual style adopted by the film, as well as integrating mGear modules into Komodo’s auto-rigging system. We had to adapt to the differences between both systems and learn how to use them properly in order to deliver the assigned characters.
I had the pleasure of working on Kiwi, Picoletta, and Benjamin. For Kiwi, I was responsible for the entire character, including the squash and stretch system required for his animation. I also worked on Picoletta’s wing setup, helping with feedback and performing rig checks to ensure that, as a team, we could deliver the best possible result.
This project was an amazing learning experience, where I was able to absorb a lot from the rigging supervisor and the project lead at the time.
